Materials

• Drawing Paper
• Crayons or Colored Pencils

In today’s tutorial, we are going to learn how to draw a scary monster on paper. The location and proportion of each part will be pointed out in each step of the tutorial. Note that the blue pencil lines are used to show the current lines being drawn in each in each of the steps.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

1. Outline The Body

   Outline the scary monster’s hairy body by drawing a fuzzy oval shape.

2. Add The Eyes

   Add the monster’s eyes by drawing two pairs of ovals. Draw the iris by making a smaller oval on each eye. Then, add the pupils by drawing shaded ovals.

3. Draw The Brows

   Draw the shape of the scary monster’s thick eyebrows as shown. Erase parts of the eyes that overlap with the brows.

4. Form The Mouth

   First, outline the curving shape of the mouth. Then, draw its sharp teeth using zigzag lines.

5. Add A Tongue

   Add its long tongue sticking out by drawing a U-shaped line.

6. Attach The Arms

   Form the shape of the monster’s raised arms with sharp claws on both sides of its body similar to the illustration.

7. Draw The Feet

   Draw the monster’s short legs with sharp clawed feet as shown.

8. Create The Horns

   Create the pointed shape of its horns attached to its head. Then, draw curved lines along the surface of its horns to add some texture.

9. Complete The Scary Monster Drawing

   Let’s complete the scary monster drawing by adding some color! First, use a red crayon to shade the iris and tongue of our spooky monster. Next, use a white crayon to color the teeth and the sclera of its eyeballs. Then, use a black crayon to fill in its brows and the inside of its mouth. After that, color the horns with a yellow crayon. Finally, shade the rest of the monster’s body with a green crayon.
