Materials

In today’s tutorial, we will learn how to draw pheasant on paper. The location and proportion of each part will be observed in each step of the tutorial. Note that the blue lines are used to show the newest shapes being drawn in each in each of the steps.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

1. Draw The Body

   Using your pencil, draw an oval-like shape in the middle of your paper.

2. Outline The Neck And Head

   Then create the outline for the head and the neck, just like in the example.

3. Add Bird Face Details

   The ring-necked pheasant has a stripe on its neck as well as small eyes and beak.

4. Draw The Wings And Tail

   Next, add the feathery wings and tail on the right side of the body.

5. Add The Feet

   Lastly, don’t forget to draw the pheasant’s feet below its body, similar to a chicken.

6. Complete Your Drawing

   Now we can color the pheasant using brown, green, red, and orange crayons.

About Pheasants

Pheasants are beautiful birds that look like slender chickens with long tail feathers and beautiful colors.

Pheasants are birds in the Phasianidae family, which is in the pheasant, partridge, and grouse order of birds. They are native to Eastern Asia and many parts of Europe.

Pheasants can be colorful birds, with males often known for their bright colors and long tails. Pheasants are known for their strutting behavior in order to attract mates. They are also known for living in groups in the wild.

There are many kinds of pheasants. Some are indigenous to China, some are to Japan, and others are to other parts of Asia. Some are even found in parts of Europe.

Wild pheasants fly, but domestic ones do not.

The males are known for their bright colors, which they show off during courtship. They are vegetarians, eating mostly seeds, vegetables, and fruit. Perhaps the most famous breed of pheasants is the Lady Amherst, which is bright green and accenting it’s white body. This beautiful bird can be found in the warmer regions of China.
