Description: How many members here are familiar with the tale “Legend of Sleepy Hollow”? If you’re like me, you already know about the story, and how the tale ends. One of my favorite flicks that is based on the age old story is called ‘Sleepy Hollow’, and it stars actors like Johnny Depp, and Christina Ricci. Of course the film was directed by Tim Burton, and it was also very weird and exciting at the same time. To celebrate Halloween, I wanted to draw a character from one of my favorite childhood stories. So today, I will be giving you a detailed lesson on “how to draw the Headless Horseman”, step by step. The original short story was written by Washington Irving, and it is part of his short story collection of American folklore. Now the legend as it goes, takes place in Sleepy Hollow, New York during the Revolutionary War. Anyways, the Headless Horseman is a soldier that has been decapitated by a cannonball during the war. One of the more famous stories of the Headless Horseman includes a character named Ichabod Crane, a skittish figure that is meek and very gullible. Although there is many speculations to the fabled tale, I believe in the one where everyone in the story thinks that the beheaded horseman is in fact Ichabod’s rival Brom Bones. The two where in a conflict for a woman’s hand in marriage named Katrina van Tassel. She was torn between two men, one was very kind, loving, and courteous, and the other was crude, strong, and demanding. Anyways, this tutorial is going to show you guys “how to draw The Headless Horseman”. When you are all done with this drawing, you can choose to draw a bigger pumpkin head for your ghoulish character if you want, or you can just use the pumpkin I drew in the sketch. Either way it will be great. Okay, well that does it for this tutorial. I will be back with more drawing fun so stay tuned in to see what it’s going to be. Adios mi amigos!
