This book is everything I hoped it would be, when I purchased it. It has an ideal amount of step by step instructions that walk you through the artist technique, in a way that still leaves the person using this as a guide to experiment with their own character concepts. That combined with the giving a good amount of history and lore from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and how angels and fallen angels are depicted in these cultures. This aspect of the book alone is just a valuable for someone who is looking to find the right balance of inspiration to create their own fallen characters.
A major thing that I personally am grateful for is, this book isn’t overloaded with the typical Google image search results of fallen angels; which can be overflowing with typical glowing female characters who really lack connection with any type of background, and are there just to look pretty. A majority of the illustrations are male and they all have that masculine fallen angel look that is often hard to find. At the same time all of the illustrations are beautiful, and still have an edge to them, that makes you want to know more about the character, which is important when anyone is creating a character or just working on an illustration.

As an experienced artist myself:
This is a great book for anyone who has developed their skills, or is just starting to learn and is anxiously trying to find new methods by which to create artwork. Aspiring or Professional – it’s great for either one, and both will find this book inspiring!
This book covers a very wide range of media from pencils and colored pencils, all the way through Photoshop. It also covers how to use much of the media together to create a successful piece. This, in my opinion, is a *very* important aspect – covering step by step how to use the different media and what to use it for.
Keep in mind though, that the artists techniques are one means of exploring – so you can directly go with what the artist does to create work, or alter the process and use the step by step projects as a guideline. Hence, good for aspiring or professional artists looking to expand their skills.
I really can’t wait to dig in to this book in depth!
