To draw Kermit step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, and each step is explained in the text below the photo, so you’ll know exactly what to draw in each step. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods! Take your time and draw at your own pace.

The Narrated step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Draw a big circle as a guide for Kermit the Frog’s head. If you’re struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a small, circular object like a coin or a lid.

Step 2: Draw two intersecting lines across the circle as guides to help you place Kermit’s facial features later. The end result should look similar to a scope.

That’s it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing of Kermit the Frog from the Muppets.

Step 3: At the top of the circle, draw two half-circles for Kermit’s eyes. Pay attention to how big these half-circles are in relation to the circle. Use the vertical construction line to guide you on how far apart to space the eyes. The bottom parts of Kermit’s eyes should be inside the circle.

Step 4: Inside each eye, draw a big dot for Kermit’s pupils. On the sides of each pupil, draw a short, thick line to complete the frog-like eyes.

Step 5: Darken most of the horizontal construction line for the middle of Kermit the Frog’s open mouth. Above that, draw a shape that’s similar to a wide, thin triangle for the top part of the mouth. Curve the ends of the mouth up a bit.

Step 6: Below the horizontal construction line, draw a big, V-shaped line for the bottom part of Kermit the Frog’s open mouth. The sides of this shape should almost be parallel to the initial circle. The bottom tip should touch the circle’s lower edge.

Step 7: On the top part of the bottom half of the mouth, draw a shape that similar to a heart for Kermit the Frog’s tongue. Add a line in the middle for extra detail. Inside the top section of the mouth, draw a wavy shape for the throat opening and uvula.

Step 8: Use the initial circle as a guide to draw the shape of Kermit’s head. At the top, between the eyes, make the line pointier. For the sides, follow the basic path of the circle but make the sides bulge out more. Make the bottom edge pointier.

Step 9: Below the head, draw a curved line for Kermit the Frog’s neck. Add a couple of short lines on the sides to actually connect the head to the neck.

Step 10: Below the neck, draw thin, long V-shaped line for the first part of Kermit the Frog’s collar. On either side, draw another V-shaped line but tilt the lines a bit.

Step 11: On either side of the neck, draw two more thin, long, V-shaped lines for the rest of Kermit’s collar. These lines should have a more diagonal orientation than the first, and they should also be a bit smaller.

Step 12: For a more finished look for your Muppet character, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker.

Step 13: After inking Kermit the Frog from the Muppets, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your Kermit the Frog drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use green for the head and neck. Use red for the inside of the mouth, black for the throat and pink for the tongue. Color Kermit’s collar yellow or yellow-green. Now you have a completed drawing of Kermit the Frog from the Muppets!
