MOUNT VERNON — The Division I Central District tournament draw turned out to be a favorable one for Mount Vernon.

The Yellow Jackets earned the No. 7 seed among the 48 big-school programs in central Ohio and took a first-round bye. Mount Vernon will open postseason play at home at 5 p.m. May 10 against either No. 36 Dublin Coffman or No. 39 Big Walnut. Coffman and Big Walnut will meet at 5 p.m. May 8 at Coffman.

A win in the sectional final would send Mount Vernon back to the district tournament at a site to be determined. The highest-seeded team the Yellow Jackets would see in the district semifinals would be No. 16 Olentangy Orange.

Division III

Centerburg (16-3) picked up the No. 3 seed in the Division III and has a bye in the opening round. The Trojans will host either No. 10 Northmor or No. 12 Fredericktown at 5 p.m. May 10. The Freddies and Golden Knights will meet in the sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. May 8 at Northmor.

East Knox (13-4) picked up the No. 6 seed and will host No. 9 Cardington-Lincoln (7-7) in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 10.

Division IV

State-ranked Danville (13-5) is the No. 2 seed in the Division IV Central District tournament and has a first-round bye. The Blue Deviols will host either No. 7 Ridgedale or No. 10 Millersport at 5 p.m. May 9.
